Kiss toxins Goodbye - the one product you need to switch to today!

Whether you’re donning your favorite red lip or keeping it casual with a nude gloss, you may unknowingly be ingesting toxins that can cause you harm.

In 2007 the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics released findings from a study in which they found 61% of the 33 brands tested came back positive for traces of lead. The FDA followed that study with one of their ownin 2009 and found even higher traces of lead in the lipsticks they tested. Unfortunately, not much of anything has been done since these findings were released.

If the FDA isn’t regulating this, does it even matter?

Ingesting lead and other heavy metals found in color cosmetics can have a major effect on our health. According to the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, “Exposure to lead has been linked to a host of health concerns:Neurotoxicity, it has been linked to learning, language and behavioral problems, reduced fertility in both men and women hormonal changes and menstrual irregularities, and delayed onset of puberty in girls and development of testes in boys.” And to think, we aren’t just exposing ourselves to harm but anyone we steal kisses from as well!

I know, such a kick in the teeth, right? Can’t we just have great lips without the toxic chemicals, please? The answer is YES! There is a growing list of green beauty brands that are trying to correct this broken system by offering safer options.

I’m a firm believer that you shouldn’t have to choose between something that is safe and something you love to wear and fortunately, Beautycounter agrees. Every batch of products is third party tested for safety which means you can pucker up without pause, knowing what you’re wearing is safe and beautiful! Check out my favorite safe brand of lip wear HERE.

Cheers to being safe and beautiful!
